As a company we look at our impact on the environment from the moment a new product or design is considered through development, manufacturing, sales, and delivery. Every gift is created to be kept and remembered, made in small batches using responsibly sourced materials. We use wood that comes from Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) certified forests in the US. We also donate our samples and seconds to local community organizations and recycle our scraps as much as possible.
In 2019, we joined the nonprofit One Tree Planted in their Million Tree Challenge, an initiative to plant one million trees in California to help the state recover from its worst fire season in its history. We’re facilitating the planting of 2,000 trees — that’s 100 trees for every tree we’ve used since we started in 2012. Going forward, we’ll continue to plant 100 trees for every tree we use to do our part in taking care of natural resources and being responsible citizens of the planet.
As a small business, we want to do our part in doing good. We believe that it’s important to do little things because those little things add up. Each year, our team selects causes that are important to us. Last year, we donated to the ACLU, Planned Parenthood, Givewell, and several other causes that touched our hearts. In line with this, we’ve committed to donating at least $1 from each online purchase to timely initiatives including social justice, civil rights, women’s rights, and international aid.
